Terms & Conditions

1- MINIMUM RENTAL PERIOD:

24 hours, extra hour or fraction will be calculated as another day.

2 – DRIVING LICENCE:

The client must present a driver's license that is valid in Portugal and has been valid for at least one year. Digital driver's licenses will be accepted, provided they were issued by an official authority.

3 – Age of Driver:

You must be at least 21 years old and have at least one year's driving experience. For drivers aged between 21 and 25, an additional fee of €40 per young driver will apply.

7M Rent a Car applies a young driver surcharge for customers under the age of 26, whilst a minimum of one year's driving licence remains mandatory:

19–20 years: €65 surcharge; insurance +€5/day; groups A, B, C1, J1 only; excess €500 (A/B) | €750 (C1/J1)

21–25 years: €40 surcharge per driver

≥26 years: no surcharge

The minimum age for hire is 21, except where the Youth Package (19–20 years) applies.

4- FUEL, ELECTRIC CHARGE:

The renter is responsible for returning the vehicle with the same fuel level as when it was collected. With regard to the electric charge, any charging carried out during the rental period will be charged to the renter, as will any outstanding charge. In the case of electric vehicles, the deposit provided will be held for 24 hours after the vehicle is returned, so that the energy costs on the charging card can be calculated. Following this verification, 7M Rent a Car will deduct the corresponding amount from the deposit.

5- INSURANCE:

Prices include Third-Party Liability Insurance valid in Portugal; the customer (renter) is liable for any damage caused to the hired vehicle up to the maximum excess amount specified for each incident. This liability may be waived upon payment of additional fees of €9–€45 per day, as per the information in our public price list available at the counter on this date. The customer (renter) shall always be liable for any damage caused to third parties or to the hired vehicle whenever:

- It is driven by a person who is not legally qualified or authorised by 7M RENT A CAR to do so.

- It suffers damage caused intentionally by the customer (renter) or by a person for whom they are responsible.

- Is driven by a person under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, other drugs or toxic substances, or due to the driver's mental incapacity.

- Suffers abnormal wear and tear to the clutch and/or gearbox, in the event of lost keys, incorrect fuel use, or damage to the vehicle's interior.

- Is used in sporting events, races, rallies, challenges, competitions, betting, etc.

- Is involved in an accident and this is not reported in writing to 7M RENT A CAR as soon as possible.

Failure to report or late reporting shall constitute an obligation on the part of the customer (renter) to compensate 7M RENT A CAR for all additional expenses resulting therefrom.

6- PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE:

Ask for details at 7M RENT A CAR.

7- PAYMENT:

We accept payments made by credit or debit card. American Express, prepaid cards, or virtual cards (including but not limited to services such as Revolut) are not accepted.

8- DEPOSITS:

Premium Insurance:

A deposit of €100 to €150 is required, payable by credit or debit card. The amount is refundable at the end of the rental, provided that the contract terms are fulfilled. Payments with American Express, prepaid cards, or virtual cards (including, but not limited to, services such as Revolut) are not accepted.

CDW:

A deposit between €1,000 and €3,000 is required, depending on the vehicle group. This deposit is blocked exclusively on a credit card. The refund/release is processed after the vehicle is returned, in accordance with the rental terms. Payments with American Express, prepaid cards, or virtual cards (including, but not limited to, services such as Revolut) are not accepted.

Note: In some vehicle categories, the Premium Insurance only reduces the excess (deductible) and does not fully eliminate the customer's liability. Examples of these categories include: scooters (XYAZ), Fiat Ducato (OVMD and OKMD), Fiat Scudo (LVMD), Mercedes GLA (DDAV), and Volkswagen Multivan (RVAH). In these cases, the insurance cost to reduce the excess ranges between €9 and €45.

9- DELIVERIES AND DROP OFFS:

A fee of €30–45 applies for collections outside our offices.

Deliveries/collections at the airport are subject to a fee in accordance with the current terms and conditions.

In both cases, details of the prices for these services can be found in our public price list available at the counters on the day.

7M RENT A CAR shall not be liable for unused rental days or losses associated with failure to comply with the requirements.

Vehicles must be returned in good condition, as they were delivered to the renter, including cleaning. If this is not complied with, 7M Rent a Car shall be entitled to charge a cleaning fee, depending on the situation:

- Basic cleaning (excluding upholstery): €35 + VAT

- Deep clean (including upholstery): €85 + VAT

Collection or return of vehicles outside standard hours may incur an out-of-hours fee, as follows:

- Between 19:00 and 21:59: €10

- Between 22:00 and 07:59: €40

This fee applies to both collection and return of the vehicle and will be included in the rental agreement.

10- TO GO TO PORTO SANTO:

Prices do not include travel outside Madeira island.

Travel to Porto Santo may be authorized by 7M RENT A CAR upon payment of an additional fee of €55, which will be stated in the rental agreement.

If 7M RENT A CAR becomes aware of any unauthorized travel without prior approval and payment, the customer (lessee) will be charged €3.00 per kilometre driven during the rental period and will be held responsible for any damages or losses that may occur to the rented vehicle.

11- FINES:

All fines or penalties incurred during the rental period are the sole responsibility of the customer. If the customer requires assistance with the processing or payment of fines, an administrative fee of €25 + VAT will be applied.

12- RENTAL:

The rental ends on the agreed date, time, and location.

If the customer (lessee) wishes to extend the rental period, they must contact 7M RENT A CAR in advance, with a minimum notice of 24 hours before the scheduled end, in order to obtain authorization. Otherwise, penalties may apply. In the absence of authorization from 7M RENT A CAR, the vehicle will be considered as being used without permission and against the company's will, and the matter may be reported to the authorities and subject to penalties under the Highway Code and Criminal Law.

A non-compliance fee of €60 (VAT included) applies to all customers who exceed the contract's grace period. Example: customers who booked a 24-hour rental but signed a contract from 09:00 to 18:30 will be charged this fee if the vehicle is returned outside the agreed time.

If the customer requests additional extras (e.g., baby seat, additional driver), even if only for one or two days, the corresponding amount will be charged for the entire rental period, as stated in the contract. The customer is responsible for the correct installation and fitting of baby/child seats.

A location change fee of €10 + VAT applies whenever, after the reservation has been confirmed, the customer requests to return the vehicle at a different location from the one initially agreed.

13- SEATS:

It is not allowed to exceed the number of seats determined on the vehicle logbook. In case of accident this will be on client's responsibility.

14- ACCIDENTS:

In case of accident the client must proceed as follows:

- To call the Police (PSP or GNR) and in case of personal injuries call an ambulance (112).

- Take photos of the circumstances of the accident prior to moving the vehicle/s

- Contact and inform immediately the nearest 7M RENT A CAR office or head office at Funchal (phone numbers on the rental contract)

- In case of non-compliance of any of these terms the client will be under the condition of nr.5.

- Ask from the other involved accident drivers in the other vehicles the following information's:

- Name, address, phone number;

- Driver's license, place and date of issue;

- Insurance company and policy number;

- Witnesses name and address.

- Correctly fill in all elements of the document – Friendly Declaration of Accident (DAAA) which is located in car documents briefcase.

15 – BREAK DOWN:

In case of breakdown the client (renter) must contact immediately 7M RENT A CAR head office from the place of the event. From 8:30 to 23:59.

After 00:00 client must contact our assistance through number indicated on the rental agreement an provide following details:

- Name

- Registration Number, Rental Agreement Number, License plate number

- Number of people in the vehicle,

- Exact place of the breakdown

- Break down details.

7M RENT A CAR is not responsible for any time loss caused by accident or breakdown that may delay or stop client's holidays or trip.

16- DOCUMENTS:

7M RENT A CAR delivers to the client (renter) a small plastic briefcase with all car documents.

In case of loss during the rental period 7M RENT A CAR will consider the client responsible for it, in this case the client must pay the amount of €100,00 for the replacements.

The client will be responsible for any fines while driving the car without documents.

17- REFUNDS:

Refunds for reservations made via the website, applicable to the daily rate as well as selected extras, will be processed according to the following rules:

• Up to 15 days before the reservation date: 100% of the amount paid will be refunded (minus applicable fees).

• Up to 7 days before the reservation date: 50% of the amount paid will be refunded (minus applicable fees).

• Less than 3 days before the reservation date: no refund will be issued.

All reservations made in person at the counter are non-refundable.

Note: Previously paid fees are non-refundable. For example, if the customer pays an airport fee and later chooses to return the vehicle to a different location, the airport fee will not be refunded.

18- PROMOTIONS:

All online campaigns apply discounts exclusively to the daily rental rate.

19- ANY LEGAL DISPUTE BY EITHER PARTY CAN ONLY BE SETTLED BY THE COMPETENT JURISDICTION OF THE TRIBUNAL OF FUNCHAL, AND WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DECLINE ANY OTHER TRIBUNAL
