Terms & Conditions

1- MINIMUM RENTAL PERIOD:

24 hours, extra hour or fraction will be calculated as another day.

2 – DRIVING LICENCE:

It is necessary to present a driving licence valid in Portugal. Digital drivers licence will be accepted when obtained through the official entity.

3 – Age of Driver :

A minimum age of 21 and one year of driving experience are required. A young driver fee of €40 applies to drivers between 21 and 25 years old.

4- FUEL, ELECTRIC CHARGE :

Regarding electric charging, any charging carried out during the rental period will be charged to the renter, as well as any missing charge that needs to be restored upon return.

5- INSURANCE :

Prices include public liability valid in Portugal being the client responsible for damages caused to the hired car up to the corresponding deductible per occurrence. This responsibility can be eliminated with the payment of additional taxes of XXX EUROS per day according to the mentioned on the public price-list at the desk at the time.

The clients/renters are always responsible for all damages caused to third parties or in the hired car in case of:

- Being driven by persons who is not legally qualified or authorized by 7M RENT A CAR.

- Suffering damages intentionally caused by the client (renter) or any person whom he is responsible for.

- Whenever the car’s driver, drives under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or any other drugs or toxic products or in case of insanity

- In the event of abnormal clutch and gearbox use, keys loss, fuel errors and vehicle interior damages

- Being used in sport competitions, races, rallys , contests , bets, etc.

- Accident which is not communicated by written to 7M RENT A CAR as soon as possible.

- If not communicated or late communication will oblige the client (renter) to indemnity 7M RENT A CAR for all expenses which may occur from that incident.

6- PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE:

Ask for details at 7M RENT A CAR.

7- PAYMENT:

We accept payments made by credit or debit card. American Express, prepaid cards, or virtual cards (including but not limited to services such as Revolut) are not accepted.

8- DEPOSITS:

Premium Insurance:

Requires a €100-€150 deposit, taken by credit or debit card. The amount is refundable at the end of the rental, subject to compliance with the contract. American Express, prepaid cards, or virtual cards (including but not limited to services such as Revolut) are not accepted.

CDW:

Requires a deposit between €1,000 and €3,000, depending on the vehicle group. This deposit is blocked exclusively on a credit card. Refund/ release occurs after the vehicle is returned in accordance with the rental terms. American Express, prepaid cards, or virtual cards (including but not limited to services such as Revolut) are not accepted.

9- DELIVERIES AND DROP OFFS:

A fee of 15-45€ EUROS will be charged for deliveries/collections outside 7M RENT A CAR office.

Deliveries / Collections at the airport are subject to the payment of a fee according to general conditions.

In both cases, the information about the cost of these services is mentioned in our public price list present on the desks at the time.

7M RENT A CAR will not be responsible for unused rental days or losses regarding non-compliance with rental requirements.

Vehicles shall be dropped off in the same conditions as they were delivered to the client, including its cleaning. In case it does not happen 7M RENT A CAR has the right to be reimbursed for the amount, so the vehicle can be delivered to a new client.

10- TO GO TO PORTO SANTO:

Prices do not include leaving Madeira Island. 7M RENT A CAR may allow trip to Porto Santo (one way not allowed) through the payment of an extra tax which will be mentioned on the rental.

In case the client takes the car out of the island without permission or payment, will pay the amount of €3,00 per each driven Kilometer during the rental period and will be responsible for all damages that may occur to the hired car.

11- FINES :

It is always the client’s responsibility (renters) for all and any fines that may occur during the rental period.

12- RENTAL :

The rental ends on the established day, hour and place agreed.

Should the client wish to extend the rental period, they must contact 7M RENT A CAR at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled end time in order to obtain authorization. If such authorization is not granted, the company will consider the vehicle to be circulating without permission, subject to the applicable penalties under Portuguese road traffic legislation. In addition, the client shall indemnify 7M RENT A CAR for any and all costs or damages that may arise from such unauthorized use.

13- SEATS :

It is not allowed to exceed the number of seats determined on the vehicle logbook. In case of accident this will be on client’s responsibility.

14- ACCIDENTS:

In case of accident the client must proceed as follows:

- To call the Police (PSP or GNR) and in case of personal injuries call an ambulance (112).

- Take photos of the circumstances of the accident prior to moving the vehicle/s

- Contact and inform immediately the nearest 7M RENT A CAR office or head office at Funchal (phone numbers on the rental contract)

- In case of non-compliance of any of these terms the client will be under the condition of nr.5.

- Ask from the other involved accident drivers in the other vehicles the following information’s:

- Name, address, phone number;

- Driver’s license, place and date of issue;

- Insurance company and policy number;

- Witnesses name and address.

- Correctly fill in all elements of the document – Friendly Declaration of Accident (DAAA) which is located in car documents briefcase.

15 – BREAK DOWN:

In case of breakdown the client (renter) must contact immediately 7M RENT A CAR head office from the place of the event. From 8:30 to 23:59.

After 00:00 client must contact our assistance through number indicated on the rental agreement an provide following details:

- Name

- Registration Number, Rental Agreement Number, License plate number

- Number of people in the vehicle,

- Exact place of the breakdown

- Break down details.

7M RENT A CAR is not responsible for any time loss caused by accident or breakdown that may delay or stop client’s holidays or trip.

16- DOCUMENTS :

7M RENT A CAR delivers to the client (renter) a small plastic briefcase with all car documents.

In case of loss during the rental period 7M RENT A CAR will consider the client responsible for it, in this case the client must pay the amount of €100,00 for the replacements.

The client will be responsible for any fines while driving the car without documents.

17- REFUNDS:

This policy applies exclusively to reservations made and paid for through the website. Cancellations submitted online regarding reservation withdrawal will be processed according to the following terms:

-Up to 7 days prior to the reservation date: A refund of 100% of the amount paid will be issued (minus applicable fees).

-Up to 3 days prior to the reservation date: A refund of 50% of the amount paid will be issued (minus applicable fees).

-Less than 3 days prior to the reservation date: No refund will be issued.

All reservations made in-store are non-refundable.

18-ANY LEGAL DISPUTE BY EITHER PARTY CAN ONLY BE SETTLED BY THE COMPETENT JURISDICTION OF THE TRIBUNAL OFFUNCHAL, AND WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DECLINE ANY OTHER TRIBUNAL
